Laguna Mountains 12/30/2010

Finally, some snow in the local San Diego mountains. Barbara, Courtney, Morgan and I went up to Mount Laguna the day after the snow storm. We did some sleding and hiked to a small peak nearby to get a view of the surrounding mountains. The entire forest, every plant and every pine needle, was totally encased in ice.The high temps for the day were between 25 and 29 degrees with some gusts of wind coming through. It was one of the most beautiful days I have ever experienced in the mountains. A gust of wind would come through and fill the air with ice and snow flakes creating a glimmering rainbowed sunshined crystallized air that was really beautiful to see. The snow was so dry and powdery my boots didn't get wet the whole day tromping through the snow and you couldn't even make a snowball as it would just poof into a cloud of dust as you threw it into the air. I'm so glad the girls and I got to experience this day in the mountains.
